Getting all the details

Back in May I had a large nutrition test done. I learned that in addition to some vitamin deficiency I was lacking in gut bacteria. A new probiotic and vitamin pack and I’m feeling like a new person! Again I say, never neglect your gut health!

That being said, my weight hasn’t moved at all. We’ve improved our nutrition, I’m exercising regularly, but nothing. I needed hard data! I decided to meet with a Registered Dietitian and get metabolic testing done. Boy did I learn a lot and have a lot verified!

Not shockingly, I learned that I am eating too much! Surprisingly, I learned I have an above normal metabolism. At least I know that some dieting hasn’t completely killed my metabolism! I’ve been averaging about 2,000 – 2,100 calories a day cause that is what my fitness pal recommended. Apparently, in order to maintain my weight I need to eat 2,002. To lose weight I should have between 1,600 – 2,000 calories.


We decided on a target of 1800 calories a day. The rest of this week I’m tracking what I normally eat without altering. Then next week, we make the changes! I knew I was doing something wrong but I had to figure it out. I’ll tell you what! It is hard to ignore when it is printed right there in front of you! I even have a macro breakdown! 25% fat, 25% protein, and 50% carbs because I enjoy endurance activities!

So, here’s to healthy choices and new changes! Hopefully, getting down to a healthier weight. Cause honestly, I feel better when I weigh a little less! Anyone else had the testing done and learned a thing or 2?
