Holiday Streak

Well HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone!! I have a lot to be thankful for this year. However, I won’t bore you with the details!

I will say that I am super happy today because I opened our local paper and the interview I did made the FRONT PAGE!! Now this may not seem like a big deal but I have been working to get this paper to do more stories on us! I am currently freaking out a bit!

Second, 2 days ago Jon and I sat down and looked at my training. The doctor approved me for short distance running until my new inserts came in. We looked at a Hal Higdon plan of running shorter distances everyday to get a higher weekly milage. We think this will get me ready for marathon time no problem. In order to motivate me from going from 2-3 days of running a week to 6 -7 days of running a week I signed up for the Runner’s World Holiday Streak Challenge. This challenges you do get up and run AT LEAST 1 mile everyday from Thanksgiving until New Years Day. With the theory that if you run 1 you might run more. Though, if you aren’t feeling it you can stop at 1.

My goal is to start with running 2 miles everyday and work my way up to 5. So that will start me with a weekly total of 14 miles and work me up to 35 miles. Which, would be the equivalent of running a long 20 miles and 2 – 5 miles during the week.

I know I can run 26.2 I’ve done it before. So, I’m not trying to get over the mental hurdle.  I’m trying to get my fitness where it needs to be to run 26.2. So with a combo of running everyday and cross-training in there also, I believe whole-heartedly that I can make this happen.

Now, to find the motivation to do this everyday!! Whew!
