It is finally here. Monday begins my half-iron training. Nothing like starting your Christmas holiday off with a major training plan. I’m even going to have to change it my first week cause I doubt highly that my YMCA or my government operated pool will be open on Thursday for my swim that day. Ah well.
The cover reminds me of an 80’s textbook but I promise it was written in 2014
Right after I registered for 70.3 Florida I went out and bought IronFit Secrets and it has been my training and planning bible since. I’ve read this thing cover to cover twice and I’ve followed a lot of its suggestions. They have 3 training plans to choose from and I am going with the “Just Finish” plan. Cause as always I have 2 race goals:
1. Finish the race
2. Don’t get eaten by sharks (right Megan?). However the race is in Florida so maybe I should change this to gators.
What all of this really means is that life gets more structured. After just getting off a cruise a week ago (hello foods) and taking a week off to deal with being super sick (thank you Disney) I need to get my act together.
Myfitness pal will make its grand reappearance as will dailymile. The weekly planner is already set (thank you erincodren.com) with workouts and now to fill in the rest of my life around it. My life isn’t usually this structured and now it needs to be!
Work said use or lose the vacation time so I figured why not take the week off to start my training off right. Mostly, I want to get into the habit of getting up and working out in the morning. And so it begins. Not with a bang but with a whimper.
How does everyone else prepare for not only the start of their goal race but also a large race?
